Media Types and formats We Work With

Movie Film

Multiple vintage film reels, some with film inside, arranged on a white background.

16mm (silent & sound), 8mm, Super 8 — transfer and editing

For film transfers, we use precision Elmo Corporation CCD projectors. These scan or project the film frame-by-frame, converting the analog content into a digital video signal with smooth playback, accurate color reproduction, and reduced flicker. Elmo CCD-based telecine/film-to-video transfer units are professional units designed specifically for 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm formats.

VHS, VHS-C, Betamax, Betacam, MiniDV, Hi-8, 8mm, Digital 8 — transfer and editing

All video formats—including VHS, Betamax, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV—are processed using professional-grade playback equipment. This allows us to stabilize playback and capture the best possible signal from your original tapes.

Slides, photos, negatives, documents, and photo albums

A collage of vintage photographs, film strips, and slide mounts featuring scenes from Italy, including the Tiber River, and a family portrait of a woman with two children and a woman sitting in front with a man and girl standing beside her.

All prints, negatives, and slides are digitized using Epson Perfection V Series professional scanners with Digital ICE technology at 600 DPI. This advanced process helps reduce dust, scratches, and imperfections while capturing sharp detail and accurate color.

Restorations

Side-by-side comparison of two vintage sepia-tone photographs of a family portrait featuring a woman, a man, and a young boy. The left photo is aged, worn, and faded, while the right photo is clearer and restored.

Locket size to 11×14 originals

Each photo receives archival care and professional restoration—from Adobe Photoshop to AI tools—to repair cracks, fix fading, and remove blemishes. High-resolution scanning plus advanced digital processing preserves every detail with modern clarity.

Cassette tapes and Reel to Reel

We transfer cassette and reel-to-reel audio with professional Tascam and Sony decks, using calibrated playback and high-end converters to reduce noise and preserve warmth. Projects are monitored in real time to optimize levels and deliver clear digital masters.

DVD

Conversion to digital

We convert DVDs to digital with precision optical drives and bit‑perfect extraction for a 1:1 copy. Professional de‑interlacing and high‑bitrate encoding preserve native resolution and remove playback artifacts. Each disc is inspected and cleaned for a smooth, stutter‑free digital master.

Digital Capture & Editing
Every film and tape is transferred directly to a computer using high-quality digital capture methods. We utilize Adobe Premiere Pro and related tools for processing, where we can apply color correction, reduce noise, and ensure clean, consistent playback.

Modern File Delivery
Your memories are delivered in widely compatible digital formats, making them easy to watch, edit, and share. Files can be viewed on computers and smart TVs, or backed up to platforms like Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud.

Why It Matters
The quality of your transfer depends not just on the equipment—but on how it’s used. At Noble’s Lab, each project is handled with attention to detail and care, ensuring your family memories are preserved clearly, safely, and ready to enjoy for years to come.
