Since 1983

Quality, Experience, and the White Glove Standard

Larry Corthell ran Noble’s Camera’s retail and lab operations in Hingham Square for over 30 years before closing the storefront in 2014.

When Nobles transitioned away from brick-and-mortar, Larry retained professional-grade scanners, film projectors, and video equipment. Since then, he has continued to invest in the latest software and hardware to ensure every project remains state-of-the-art.

With the help of Lorri and Mike Campbell of The Whitney Gordon’s Jewelers, customers have a location to pick up and drop off projects.

The White Glove Treatment

At Nobles Imaging Lab, each job quite literally gets the white glove treatment. From the moment your materials arrive, they are handled with the physical care and technical precision they deserve.

  • Manual Precision: Every print, slide, and negative is individually inspected and adjusted for color, density, contrast, and saturation.

  • All-Inclusive Quality: While many services "bulk scan" and charge extra for fine-tuning, I believe that level of detail is simply part of doing the job right.

  • Specialized Care: We work with standard 35mm formats as well as odd-sized and antique materials, including glass plates and daguerreotypes.

A Legacy of Trust

For 12+ generations, the Corthell family has been part of the fabric of Hingham, from Bucket makers to Bankers. Today, Larry Corthell continues that legacy of trust—helping families preserve their memories through Nobles Imaging Lab.

Over the years, Nobles Imaging Lab has taken on complex and delicate archival projects for local historical societies. They return to us because they know their irreplaceable images will be handled with care, respect, and obsessive attention to detail. Whether it’s a family wedding album or a century-old glass negative, your history is safe in Nobles hands.

Equipment & Technology

What Formats We Transfer & Technology We Use

At Noble’s Lab, we combine professional-grade equipment with hands-on experience to ensure your memories are preserved with the highest possible quality.

Photo, Slide & Negative Scanning
All prints, negatives, and slides are digitized using Epson Perfection V Series professional scanners with Digital ICE technology. This advanced process helps reduce dust, scratches, and imperfections while capturing sharp detail and accurate color.

Film Transfer (8mm, Super 8, 16mm)
We use precision Elmo Corporation CCD projectors to carefully transfer film frame-by-frame. This method ensures smooth playback, proper color reproduction, and minimal flicker—far superior to older projection-based transfer methods.

Video Tape Conversion
All video formats—including VHS, Betamax, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV—are processed using professional-grade playback equipment. This allows us to stabilize playback and capture the best possible signal from your original tapes.

Digital Capture & Editing
Every film and tape is transferred directly to a computer using high-quality digital capture methods. We utilize Adobe Premiere Pro and related tools for processing, where we can apply color correction, reduce noise, and ensure clean, consistent playback.

Modern File Delivery
Your memories are delivered in widely compatible digital formats, making them easy to watch, edit, and share. Files can be viewed on computers and smart TVs, or backed up to platforms like Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud.

Why It Matters
The quality of your transfer depends not just on the equipment—but on how it’s used. At Noble’s Lab, each project is handled with attention to detail and care, ensuring your family memories are preserved clearly, safely, and ready to enjoy for years to come.
